Man United fans bemoan Pochettino rumour

A number of Manchester United supporters have reacted negatively to claims that Mauricio Pochettino could become the club’s new manager.

The Red Devils parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning following the embarrassing 4-1 defeat away to Watford.

It proved to be one game too far for the United legend, who had been riding his luck after comprehensive defeats against the likes of Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City.

The search has now begun for Solskjaer’s successor at Old Trafford, with a host of names emerging, one of which is Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino.

According to The Independent, the Argentine is willing to leave his role straight away in order to take charge of United, rather than an interim manager being in control until the end of the season, as has been mooted. The likes of Zinedine Zidane, Erik ten Hag and Brendan Rodgers have also been linked with the managerial vacancy.

Although the 49-year-old took Tottenham to their first and only Champions League final during his reign in north London, he did not win a trophy during five-and-a-half years at the club, while he also fell short of the Ligue 1 title last season with a PSG squad whose budget dwarfs that of everyone else in the division.

“Pochettino might be slightly better than Ole. But his level is nowhere near Zidane. Ten Hag is also a possibility and I would go for him rather than Poch. And also MUFC is considering Steve Bruce to take over as long interim manager until end of season”
