To say that Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation for Manchester United, would arguably be an under-statement.
The January signing from Sporting CP has breathed new life into the Red Devils, and has been a source of inspiration ever since he stepped on to the pitch with a United shirt on.
Heading into the Europa League clash against LASK on Thursday night, Fernandes had provided three goals and three assists in eight total games for the club – in fact, since his arrival, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have remained unbeaten.
But whilst Odion Ighalo may have stolen the headlines for his sumptuous finish, it was Fernandes who stole the show for United on Thursday.

Playing in that number ten role once again, the Portuguese star helped run the action for Solskjaer’s men, and he was at the heart of everything that was good. It was no surprise to see the final score-line read 5-0, with United smashing in 22 total shots on goal.
And the side’s chief architect? Fernandes of course. As per Sofascore, he provided a whopping six key passes during the contest, including creating two big chances. His 80 total touches were the joint-most of any United player, whilst he also provided four accurate crosses and three accurate long balls.
It was a performance brimming with creativity and guile, and he got his customary assist when Ighalo fired home after receiving a pass just outside the area.
Speaking whilst on pundit duty for BT Sport, former United ace Owen Hargreaves waxed lyrical about what Fernandes has brought to the table.
“Every time he gets the ball he makes something happen. Fernandes is on fire, he created five chances in that first half. Like De Bruyne, he plays at his own speed, he’s never rushed, finds pockets of space. He just has a feel of when to do things.”
So whilst Ighalo may be the talk of the town for his technically brilliant goal, Fernandes was once again at his imperious best for United.
Meanwhile, this Man Utd starlet could be the future of the club.
