Dest was impressive with four completed dribbles, two interceptions, a tackle, and 89.2 percent passing. While he didn’t play the full 90 minutes, it was likely precautionary as he continues working his way back from a significant ACL injury that sidelined him for nearly a year. This was Dest's first start since April 13, 2024, a week before he tore his ACL in PSV's following match.
Dest's return could have implications for both the U.S. and PSV. Richy Ledezma, PSV's regular starter at right back for most of the season, was left out of the 18-player squad and wasn’t listed on the injury report. Ledezma, a one-cap U.S. international, is reportedly considering a one-time switch to represent Mexico.

Before his injury, Dest was prolific at right back for PSV, with six assists and two goals in 25 appearances in the 2023-24 season.
